Assessing The Need

There is no place like home and most people want to stay there! The first step is to figure out exactly what areas you need help with. Consider the following:

  • Personal Care: bathing, dressing, toileting, eating
  • Household Care: cooking, cleaning, laundry, shopping
  • Health Care: medication management, physician’s appointments, physical therapy appointments
  • Emotional Care: companionship, meaningful activities, conversation

It is also important to evaluate your personal preferences or those of the care receiver. Discuss openly whether a male or female caregiver is preferred, especially if personal care is needed. Your family should also address if you would prefer someone who shares the same values and cultural beliefs.

This can be a difficult decision for everyone involved. It is our goal to allow you to maintain your independence while aging in place rather than relocating to a Nursing Home or Assisted Living Facility. Agape Home Care provides assistance in managing the activities of daily living as well as companion and homemaker services. Agape also provides Respite care – relief to family caregivers.
